Entries ARE CLOSED to the Short Film Section of the 2007 Home Brewed Film Festival. Our selected short film finalists are displayed below in the screening programs that audiences had the pleasure of watching throughout October 2007.

There will be a few changes in 2008 but basically if you are looking to enter the festival in future years, your film must comply with the Terms and Conditions displayed on the Withoutabox entry form or the hard copy entry form which we make available on this site once our call for entries goes out. Additional information can be found on the Frequently Asked Questions page.

In general, to qualify for the prize for Best Short Film, the minimum criteria will be:

  • Under 10 minutes, or between 10 and 30 minutes in length, including all titles and credits;
  • Produced since 1 July in the year 2 years prior to the festival screening year;
  • Must not be a previous Home Brewed finalist;
  • Accompanied by a completed official Short Film Entry Form and the entry fee (varies according to whether payment is in the early or late periods for submission and whether you receive any discounts if entering via Withoutabox, but standard entry fee will be around A$33); and
  • Supplied on VHS (PAL/NTSC) cassette or DVD only.

All entries are to be posted to "Home Brewed", PO Box 130, Dapto NSW 2530, Australia. Entries cannot be returned unless a stamped and self-addressed envelope is included with the entry for these purposes.

Entry into the category of Best Illawarra Short Filmmaker is available in relation to films entered in any category of competition, that also satisfy one or more of the criteria below. If you believe you are eligible for this prize category, you need to enter the appropriate information on the Entry Form. Home Brewed may contact you to confirm your eligibility if your film is selected as a finalist.

The general criteria are that the film entered must be:

  • Produced or filmed by residents of the Greater Illawarra region;
  • Produced or filmed in the Greater Illawarra region;
  • Otherwise significantly linked to the Greater Illawarra region in terms of actors, crew or content.

The purpose of this award is to promote and encourage the art of filmmaking in the Greater Illawarra Region, the original home of the Home Brewed Festival. "The Greater Illawarra Region" is loosely defined as the area under the jurisdiction of Kiama, Shellharbour and Wollongong local councils, as well as the Bomaderry/Nowra, Shoalhaven and Wingercaribee (Southern Highlands) regions.

Set out below are details of our short films selected in 2007. The films are divided into 4 screening programs and our Illawarra filmmaker category, and then sent to our Judging Panel (right) for decisions on the $11,000 in cash prizes. Check out the Program page for details of when each of these film programs screen during the Festival (at least twice each).
